1. Moisturize for a fresh look
Moisturizers keep skin smooth and hydrated, leaving skin cells healthy and vibrant. Be sure to experiment until you find one that perfectly suits your skin type and stick with it. The best moisturizers are not always the most expensive ones. Also remember that oily skin doesn’t equal well moisturized skin.
Facial cleansers affect the quality of your skin. Avoid strong abrasive cleansers. Choose fragrance free, hypoallergenic cleansers which do not contain perfumes or dyes. Also look out for noncomedogenic products that won’t clog pores, but will leave your skin clearer and soft – these are also less likely to cause acne.
The all time secret to beautiful skin is to take time to find out what works for your skin.
2. Soft and healthy lips
According to a national poll released by lip care brand Blistex: even though 91% of women perform at least one measure that boosts their health and wellness (e.g., taking a vitamin, exercising and applying an anti-aging facial product), only half apply lip balm to protect their lips from dryness and sun damage.
Healthy lips are as much a part of a healthy you as any other part of your body. “Incorporating an all-weather, all-season lip balm into morning routines ensures daily protection and prevents damaging effects to the lips,” says Dr Charles Zugerman, associate professor of clinical dermatology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
If you find your lips flaking, gently scrub them with a washcloth and apply lip balm to keep them moisturized.
3. Rested eyes
Are your eyes looking puffy, red or feel irritated? Soak cotton balls in cold soy milk and apply to eyes; the anti inflammatory properties of soy milk plus its coolness help reduce puffiness and soothe irritation. Also keep fluids from collecting under your eyes by elevating your head with a pillow while you sleep at night. Brighten eyes up by applying the right color of eye shadow. Another remedy for swollen eyes is to place bags of frozen peas under the eyes.
4. Beauty sleep
According to the 2010 research Beauty Sleep: Experimental Study On The Perceived Health And Attractiveness Of Sleep Deprived People by John Axelsson and his team at the Sleep laboratory in Stockholm, Sweden: sleep deprived people appear less healthy, less attractive, and more tired compared with when they are well rested.
The body generally rejuvenates and refuels during sleep. For a good rest, you need at least 8 hours of sleep every night. The increased blood flow while you slumber has an added bonus: it helps deliver oxygen plus other nutrients to the skin, helping fight wrinkles (exercise also helps). So be sure to get your beauty rest in.
5. Tone up
What’s a great beauty routine, healthy diet, etc without exercise? Nothing distorts beauty like sagging, tired muscles and wrinkled skin. Retain the natural beauty of your skin by exercising regularly. Exercise improves blood and oxygen circulation, flushes out toxins, burns calories, boosts self esteem, etc. You can keep it simple and inexpensive by walking, jogging, bicycling, etc.
6. Manicure and Pedicure
Your hands and feet are representative of your beauty. In fact most men admit that one of the first thing they notice about a woman is the condition of her nails. Protect and pamper hands and feet just like you do the rest of your body. This routine doesn’t have to be expensive or chemicalized; natural ways are just as effective and do not present health hazards.
For your feet, while in the shower, use a pedicure file to remove dry skin, then apply foot cream and lotion to keep them soft and clean. If you notice dry patches, apply petroleum jelly before you go to bed at night. You can fight off cuticles by applying neosprin where needed daily. Keep cuticles away by regularly moisturizing using cuticle oil or lotion especially after hand washing. Grant longer life to your nail polish by reapplying the top coat to prevent chipping.
The sun is out, so should your beauty shine.
