Lemons are cheap and natural, yet can be used in many ways. Lemons are an inexpensive, yet much healthier alternative to other household ‘solutions’ and remedies.
For example:
Home care:
- Cleans grout, and grease; and can be used to tarnish off brass, and remove common households stains.
- Sanitize dishwasher by adding a quarter cup of lemon juice in the soap dispenser, and then running normal cycle. Dishwasher will be clean and smell fresh.
- Freshen garbage disposal by dropping a sliced medium lemon in, turning it on while running warm water until lemon is crushed. Kills putrid smell.
- Aromatherapy – boil lemon extract plus a teaspoon of cinnamon, to fill the house with relaxing, sweet smelling aroma.
Personal care:
- Deodorant: Dilute lemon juice, add a little baking soda, dab on underarms, this keeps you fresh all day.
- Dandruff: Apply a table spoon of lemon juice to hair, shampoo and rinse – this helps cure dandruffs. Repeat as needed.
- Lemon juice is also known to cure acne when rubbed into pimples and skin blemishes.
- Dab some lemon juice on scrapes to disinfect. This also helps relieve itching.
- Soften rough hands and feet by soaking them in warm water, apply lemon juice, rinse and massage with olive oil.
- Sore throat: Extract juice from lemon, cut or peel into small pieces, add honey and boil. Drink mixture to help with sore throats.
- Drinking half a lemon once a while mixed with a glass of water helps cleanse the system.
