Each year Passion for Motherland – Showcase gets bigger and better. The event always receives great review from the press and those who attended. We have made our contributions to the lives of those we have supported through the charitable organisations that we raise funds for.
Theodore Menelik Mfuni – founder of menelik education (2014, chosen charity):
“The money raised was an addition to all the other fund raising activities Menelik Education has to help keep projects alive and moving forward.”
Passion for Motherland – Showcase – Founded in 2013 by Congolese model Lisette Mibo [U.K. based Congolese Model LISETTE MIBO talks philanthropy, beauty and dreams] – was established in answer to a big need for more opportunities for people with a passion for Arts such as fashion, music and spoken word to have a place where their voices would be heard and their talents recognised. It was born out of the desire to provide talented, creative and philanthropic people with a platform upon which they can share their visions with as many people as possible and thus empower others.
Chosen charitable organisation 2015
Panzi Hospital/Foundation raises awareness about the challenges in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. It engages in strategic advocacy to end violence against women. Dr Denis Mukwege founded Panzi Hospital in 1996 in response to the devastating war that surrounded his community in the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Panzi Hospital runs many empowering projects to support women and girls in the Eastern Congo. We have selected The Fistula Project among the projects to focus on. We will commit ourselves in raising awareness and financially raise funds during our event, which will contribute to the medical procedures to repair women suffering from fistula.
“Panzi Hospital treats approximately 3,000 women a year with obstetric and traumatic fistula. The hospital currently has 450 beds, 250 of which are reserved for survivors of sexual violence.” For more information on the work of Panzi hospital for fistula patients, please visit their website; https://www.panzifoundation.org/
