Did you know… the beautiful gemstone Topaz discovered some 2000 years ago, was famously used to adorn Russia’s Czarinas during the 18th and 19th Centuries.
Hard, clear and transparent but tainted by impurities, Topaz comes in a variety of colors and shades such as yellow (most common), green, blue, brown, pink, and wine red. Topaz can also be colorless.
The name Topaz is derived from the Greek word ‘topazos’ meaning ‘green gemstone’.
Blue topaz is the traditional birthstone for November, hence associated with the zodiac sign Scorpio (October 24 – November 22).

According to Gemstone.org, Topaz which is attributed with a cooling, styptic and appetizing effect is believed to dispel sadness, anger and nocturnal fears from those who wear it.
Topaz is also reputed to have the power to make men handsome and intelligent; and sterile women fertile and happy.
According to Bernardine.com, During the Middle Ages, the Greeks believed Topaz had the power to increase strength and to make its wearers invisible; while the Romans believed the stone had power to improve eyesight. The Egyptians wore Topaz as an amulet for protection from injury.

Topaz is extremely durable and affordable.
Topaz is the state gemstone of the U.S. state of Utah.
The top world producers of topaz gemstones are Brazil and Sri Lanka.
