Mysterious Krishna’s Butterball in India Defies Natural Laws

Krishna’s Butterball is a massive narrow-based boulder in the ancient city of Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu state of north eastern India.
The rock is named after Lord Krishna, a Hindu deity believed to have had an insatiable appetite for butter as a child.

Krishna’s Butterball is over 20 feet in height (similar width), weighing some 250 tons. The mysterious granite stone which has been around for over 100 years, is perched on a slope at an angle of 45 degrees, defying natural laws of physics.
Krishna’s Butterball was originally named Vaan Irai Kal meaning Sky God’s Stone in Tamil language.

The area has become a huge touristic attraction. Fascinated visitors fulfill their curiosity by pushing on the boulder, hugging it and sitting around.
