5 Tips For Becoming A Better You
(Article first published in DUNIA print magazine, Winter 2017 Edition)

When I say you were created for better, it doesn’t mean that you are at your worst. It simply means that you are greater than you believe you are. You can do anything you put your heart and hand to do. It means I believe in you and your ability to accomplish all that is in your heart. I believe that life’s circumstances, roadblocks, and even obstacle courses made you stronger, better and wiser. I believe you were born for a reason, a purpose, a destiny. You are NOT just meant to exist, but LIVE! Your purpose in this world is important, instrumental and needed. No matter what field of work you are in, you have the ability to touch lives all around you. You are able to impact the world one person at a time, one neighborhood at a time, one city at a time, one nation at a time, and then the world.

Never look at yourself any other way than “great”. No one can take the gift of greatness from you. Bullies, nor circumstances can take your greatness. The only way to lose that greatness is if you voluntarily give it up. I know you will not do that because you value your greatness. I am also going to give you five tips on how to keep that greatness by becoming a better you.

Here we go:

  1. L – Love yourself. Know that you are so special that God only made one of you. There is no one else in this world with your set of fingerprints. You are worthy to receive that best that life has to offer.
  2. O – Overlook anything that is not adding to your life. Don’t allow distractions, or people with no vision to bring you down. Place yourself around those who want more out of life.
  3. V – Vision… write the vision about what you want to see in your life and believe it will happen. It is a fact that 80% of people who write down their vision will see it come to pass.
  4. E – Encourage yourself when no one else will. You can read self-help books, attend seminars, or even go on YouTube to find motivational speakers talking about something you are dealing with in life.
  5. U – Use your imagination to think yourself free. Our imagination is a very powerful tool. When used correctly it will help you envision your future and cause you to visualize yourself right where you want to be.

If I could leave you with one last thought, it would be to always find yourself in the attitude of gratitude. Thankfulness will take you places where people cannot. Now, that I have given you these tips, your responsibility is to apply them and go forth and be GREAT!
