The global demand for glass has increased substantially in recent years.
Worldwide, sectors that are posting the most demand for glass as end-users include automobile, construction, optics and electronics.
The growing demand for glass in manufacturing is mainly because glass is deemed to be a safer alternative to plastic in the food and pharmaceutical industries, according to Global Market Insights, Inc – which has also projected that the glass manufacturing market is poised to surpass US$ 320 billion by 2026.
Not only is glass safer, it is also more environmentally friendly than plastic.
In 2017, the United States reported a 65.9% Paper and Paperboard recycling rate – meaning “approximately 44.2 million tons of paper and paperboard were recycled” that year according to the country’s Environmental Protection Agency. The agency also finds that about 70 million tons of paper and paperboard are used in the US each year.
Some main benefits of paper and paperboard recycling include: less trees are cut down to produce paper, which is a huge advantage in the environmental preservation of nature; less energy and water are used in the manufacturing process of paper products; less space is used up in landfills, and less unhealthy gas emissions are released from the decomposition of paper and cardboard products into the atmosphere due to their decomposition.
China is the largest textile producing country and exporter in the world (its industry valued at about 119 Billion U.S. Dollars). followed by the European Union (with Italy, Germany, Spain, and France accounting for the highest shares of clothing companies in the area), India (which is also one of the world’s leading cotton producers), the U.S.A and Turkey. This is according to 2018 numbers by Statistica.com.
