What's your story?
Tell us a little about yourself and why you chose fashion?
I was born in Romania in very simple conditions, and even as a child I was interested in fashion and art. My role model was my mother who was very elegant and stylish. I wondered what I could do well, and I knew it was Fashion. Fashion design was my dream. At first I thought that it would amount to nothing because I had no financial support for such studies.
Then in 1996 I received a scholarship into a private fashion school in Sigmaringen, and so began my career. Then came the various fashion awards I received, which motivated me more to stay in the industry.
What are your core values and how do they influence your work?
My core values include “honesty, creativity and continuity”. My work is very much influenced and inspired by the freedom and simplicity of the people who live in my native country Romania, which is very Mediterranean.
What do you find most fulfilling about Fashion Design?
My fulfillment comes from the fact that I love what I am doing, and I am doing what I do best.
What are your favorite colors and fabrics to work with and why?
I love all colors and shapes that come from nature. So when you look at my flower prints and reptile prints, you’ll find that the colors are mostly chosen from nature. The fabrics I use are all natural fibers like silk, cotton, etc.
I gain inspiration always from the people on the street. For me, a trip is a spring of inspiration.
Have you had the opportunity to work with people from different cultures? How was the experience?
Yes, I have had the opportunity to meet and work with many people from different countries and cultures, which is the most beautiful thing that happened to me.
