PRESS RELEASE
Johannesburg, South Africa (January, 21 2015)
Wax Dey has just released the video of his latest single titled ‘Makossa’, an explosive mix between afropop and makossa, with a great selection of party scenes and dance moves.
The top notch video was shot in Cameroon and in South Africa, with cameo appearances from Nigerian superstar D’Banj as well as some figures from the Cameroonian entertainment industry such as DJ Super, radio and TV personality Valery ‘Tito’ Chifor, publicist to the stars Estelle Ahanda, and dance guru King Creol.
‘Makossa’ is a definite club banger and Wax Dey has described it as an ‘underrated genre’ that has contributed immensely to today’s urban music. The music video was shot as part of his Reality TV Show, ‘Number One Girl’. The show searches for Cameroonian girls with star power and gives them a platform to express their talents while entertaining the public as they live together and compete against one another.
The video will also serve as part of the promotion of the second season of the show, which will start airing soon in Cameroon.
The Cameroonian singer and activist was named as one of Africa’s Top 35 people under 35 in 2014 by Young People in international Affairs (YPIA). He recently received in Lagos on behalf of ONE, the AFRIMA for ‘Best Collaboration’ for the song ‘Cocoa Na Chocolate’ he did alongside 18 African artists namely D’banj, Fally Ipupa, Femi Kuti, Omawumi and more.
In 2014, Wax Dey also became the first Cameroonian to appear and perform in the Big Brother Africa house when he visited the finalists for an electrifying dinner performance on the eve of the finals.
We most definitely cannot wait to see what 2015 has in store for this multitalented artist. On your mark, get ready, set, Ma-ma-se-Ma-ma-sa-Ma-ma-MAKOSSA!!!
