He means it when He says “I’ll be there”

“To be there is more than just a romantic commitment in a moment of emotional excitement or heartbreak when we make empty promises to the people we claim to love…”
You and I must make a pact,
We must bring salvation b-a-c-k….
Just call my name, and I’ll be th-e-r-e…
Who will be there, dear brethren? Michael Jackson? Certainly not! Mariah Carey? Maybe, but emmmm no! Our parents promised to be there for us but when HE calls them to the world beyond, there is nothing anyone can do about it.
Maybe someone special who promised to be there for you will sincerely keep their word and be there to see you through the thick and thins of this wavy life; to fight for you, be a voice for you when your voice is drowned by the loud crowds that surround your life every day.
Maybe that lawyer you relied on, who promised to defend you in court, to ignore all temptations of bribery and corruption from more powerful people and stood for justice to get you acquitted!!!
HE was there to the end of that protracted case. That case everyone gave up on, helplessly resigned in wait of a desperate déja-vu yes or a big NO verdict!
Life is sometimes like that long drawn out court case whose legal fees your family can no longer afford, with you ready to spare them more painful trips to those inconclusive, uncertain hearings. That case that everyone is tired of hearing about and just want to see it end, even if it means you going to jail, they are resigned to paying you regular visits because everything including the evidence seems to be against you anyways,
But remember that God was always there, His invisible presence is what kept you going… He is:
That stimulant called FAITH
That melody called DETERMINATION
That appetizer called HOPE
And these components together led to the victory of one already proclaimed dead, the re-conception and rebirth of one already considered lost, the freedom of one already bound in eternal human chains.
Yes, HE was there.
Brothers and sisters, who is there for you today?
Is it someone who said they would be there from the start till the end?
Is it someone who came in the middle and continued on to the end?
Is it someone who is already anticipating the end and hasn’t been there, yet is ready to write you off and pay their last minute respects?
We all have people in our lives who have been there when we least expected them to; people who have not been there when we expected them by our sides; and those who will be there when we do not expect them to be.
Michael Jackson and the rest of the Jackson Five sang this song many years ago, not knowing that today we would be reflecting on its meaning in our lives.
To be there is more than just a romantic commitment in a moment of emotional excitement or heartbreak when we make empty promises to the people we claim to love … just to find out later that we are unable to keep them especially when the going gets tough.
That’s the difference between human nature and the spirit-guided promises of the Lord.
The “He” I have been mentioning lightly so far is Jesus Christ the Champion of death, the great victor, the Great I AM, the Miracle worker, the one who promises to be with us till the end of time:
“Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-23 GNT).
He was the same yesterday, is the same today and will be same forever more. So before we get there, He will already be there waiting. Do we even know when the end of time will be? My end of time might be sooner than yours or yours than mine but one thing is for sure: whenever that time may be, He will be there, if we just called His name.
Are you faced with a challenging task at work? Do you believe He is there to assist you through your task? Let us be challenged this week to believe in ourselves that [we] can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13). How is He our strength? Because He is always there.
Sometimes it’s easier to say these words but difficult to recognize that He is truly there, always has been there and will be there even before we see the light through the tunnel.
Maybe He waits for us to go through the tunnel so we could easily recognize and appreciate the light and always remember that He actually meant His word when He said I’LL BE TH-E-R-E!
