On Wednesday December 30, 2015, Bill Cosby was charged with sexual assault in Pennsylvania.
The 78 year old comedian faces accusations that he drugged and sexually assaulted Andrea Constand at his home back in 2004. “The evidence is strong and sufficient to proceed…a person in that state cannot give consent,” said Kevin Steele, Montgomery County district attorney-elect.
Cosby’s defense team is fighting back. “Make no mistake, we intend to mount a vigorous defense against this unjustified charge and we expect that Mr. Cosby will be exonerated by a court of law,” Monique Pressley, Attorney.
Constand’s case is one of many incidents that have been reported, sparking heated debates about women, sexual assault, power, race and Cosby’s legacy.
“There are more than 50 other women who have said publicly that they were drugged and sexually assaulted by Cosby. But whether such evidence can be admitted is a discretionary decision by the court applying the law of evidence.” – Philly.com
