Abyaneh is a classic old-world village located high in the rugged Karkas Mountains of central Iran.

Known as the “Red Village” for the warm, earthen hues of its homes, Abyaneh unfolds along steep mountain slopes in a maze of narrow lanes, stairways and centuries-old buildings. Its distinctive architecture, traditional way of dressing, and enduring customs offer a glimpse into a way of life shaped by the mountains and preserved across generations.

With a population of 305 inhabitants (2006 Census), what makes Abyaneh truly captivating is not simply its age or striking appearance, but the living culture that is still practiced today. The village a character all its own.
